For years, HBA builders have created beautiful neighborhoods throughout the Greater St. Louis area. Neighbors have watched those communities develop from barren land into safe and secure places to raise families. The BRAVO Neighborhood Award was created in an effort to show what happens as communities "grow up."

Judging criteria is based on the following:

• Use of trees in and near community
• Special circumstances concerning development of community
• Degree to which the site benefited the surrounding community
• The amount of development generated in the area
• Increase in area employment opportunities
• The neighborhood overall as a community
• Entrance monument
• Streetscape
• Desirability of the community as a place to live
• Home resale values
• Quality of support facilities nearby
